The LRC has many print books and periodicals and media materials which will help in your research and study – search the online catalog -- ask the Librarian for help.

Call number ranges where you may find LRC print materials dealing with medical and allied health materials: 610 - 618, 650 - 658.  Other ranges may have applicable materials as well.

Online databases - Subscription databases for journals, magazines, newspaper articles, databases, encyclopedias, viewpoint essays, etc.

EbscoHOST – there are many databases within EbscoHOST that each index a large number of journals to choose from, i.e. Academic Search Premier, Health Source…, MedLINE, CINAHL to name a few; but, depending on your search, databases like Philosophy & Religion, PsychINFO, Newspaper Source, etc. may net search results as well.

If you know the specific journal you want to search click on the Publications tab and you can limit to a specific journal or website, if it is indexed by ProQuest. Use the Topics tab for more general subject area searches.

Quackwatch - Quackwatch is now an international network of people who are concerned about health-related frauds, myths, fads, fallacies, and misconduct. Its primary focus is on quackery-related information that is difficult or impossible to get elsewhere.

The REHABDATA Database - REHABDATA, produced by the National Rehabilitation Information Center, is the leading literature database on disability and rehabilitation. The database describes over 70,000 documents covering physical, mental, and psychiatric disabilities, independent living, vocational rehabilitation, special education, assistive technology, law, employment, and other issues as they relate to people with disabilities. The collection spans 1956 to the present.

WISER - Wireless Information System for Emergency Responders - WISER is a system designed to assist first responders in hazardous material incidents. WISER provides a wide range of information on hazardous substances, including substance identification support, physical characteristics, human health information, and containment and suppression advice.

For current news stories try browsing the print newspapers and magazines that are in the LRC.

If you find a news story in a print newspaper or magazine check and see if it is available in an online version and print the article from the web site.  Often you may get a print option or pdf option for printing that will give you a good print of the article.
Some magazines or newspapers will only allow subscribers to print or view current articles.  Ask the Librarian if you encounter this, we may have ways to get at this article for you.
If you find an article in a newspaper or magazine and you are having trouble finding it in the online version, try Googling the authors name and title, this will often turn up the article, sometimes not in the source you were looking at though!

Most newspapers today have an online version available that is free.  Sometimes the online version is not an exact replica of the print version; it may contain additional features or not look like the print version.
