    Accounting & Tax with Standards is an electronic database that provides access to full-text and/or bibliographic documents from over 2,200 scholarly journals and/or accounting trade publications as well as full-text documents from the accounting standards boards.

    The accounting standards boards include:

    • the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)

    • the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB)

    • the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB)

    How to access Accounting & Tax with Standards:

    • When the ProQuest® database collection is opened, the basic search screen appears.
      (Please click here for instructions on how to access ProQuest® from the library web page)

    • The default search is ALL of the ProQuest databases.

    • To access Accounting & Tax with Standards:

      • Click the drop-down menu for the DATABASE box (located below the Basic Search box).

      • A menu will open with database choices.

      • Scroll down and click on Accounting -- Accounting & Tax with Standards.

    The basic search:

    • To perform a basic search, type your search terms into the search box. Click SEARCH.

    • You may also limit your results by clicking on the appropriate boxes or drop-down menu options. Limiters include:

      • Date

      • Full-text documents only

      • Scholarly journal results only

      • FASB documents, GASB documents, and/or IASB documents only

      • A certain publication title

      • Other limiters

    Locating accounting standards by number:

    • There are several ways to locate a standard by its number. The ways include:

      • Browsing

      • A publication search

      • An advanced search

    • The easiest method is by browsing. This allows you to search for documents from multiple accounting standard organizations.

      • Documents can be located by publication, section, and standard number.

      • To use the browse tool, click on the Browse Accounting Standards link (found near the top of the page).

      • A listing of documents from the FASB, GASB, and IASB will open. These documents will have a plus (+) sign in front of their name.

      • Click the plus (+) sign by a document name to find the document type or title you want.

      • Once you have found the document type you want to view, click on the link to the document. 

      • This will bring the document in its entirety in a Smart View Full Text Display mode.


      Example: Here is the path of a browse search:

      Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)   >>    + Original Pronouncements FASB  >> Statements (FAS) >>    click on link to FAS 1 -- Disclosure of Foreign Currency Translation Information

      This opens the FAS 1 — Disclosure of Foreign Currency Translation Information issued in December 1973.

    What is the Smart View Full Text display?

    • Accounting standards documents are displayed using the Smart View Full Text View Display.

    • The Smart View Full Text Display offers:

      • An expandable table of contents that can be used to go to specific sections and paragraphs.

      • An automatic update when "new sections or documents load."

      • Highlighted search terms.

      • Links to related standards from the full text of the document.

    • Statement of Financial Accounting Concepts (CON)

    • FASB Interpretations (FIN)

    • FASB Technical Bulletins (FTB)

    • EITF Abstracts (EITF)

    NOTE: You can also click the search button below to locate online periodicals related to ACCOUNTING.  If you are off-campus, you will need to go to the Remote Access Page tab.
