Approximately 2,000 new titles are reviewed each week. All Movie Guide: This site features extensive factual and descriptive data and original editorial content for over 215,000 titles and more than 250,000 of the actors, directors, writers, and other professionals who created them. The database is searchable by movie (title), personal name, and keyword. Film Finder allows users to search for the films in which two specified people have appeared together; films based on the works of a specified author; films based on specified original works (books, fairy tales, operas, etc.); films set in specified location and time period; etc." Film Literature Index: "Indiana University has put Film Literature Index (FLI) online indexes 150 international popular and scholarly film and television periodicals cover-to-cover, and selectively indexes another 200. FLI online contains the full content of the print version for 1976 to 2001--approximately 700,000 citations to articles and to film and book reviews published during a formative period in cinema studies." Filmsite: Searchable database with extensive reviews Filmsound.org: "Serves as an learning tool dedicated to aspects of film sound. There are links to articles on the history of film sound and questions and answers, databases (e.g., a sound effects library), bibliography, and resources on related topics such as film music and sound in animation films." Internet Movie Database: A guide to films. Masters of Cinema: Site focuses upon the work of major world directors. It is divided into numerous sections, the most significant of which are "The News Fountain," which runs down the left side of the main page and provides current news on directors and films (past and present), releases of historical and critically important DVDs, awards, and tributes." Movie Review Query Engine: "More than 25,000 movies are covered in over 185,000 reviews culled from newspapers (local, national, and international), entertainment publications, and the rec.arts.movies.reviews newsgroup." Public Moving Image Archives and Research Centers: Site offers access to major film archives, including seven in Africa and the Far East (including the Steven Spielberg Jewish Film and the Israeli Archives), 15 in Asia and Oceania, 29 in Canada (but only five of the many university collections), 86 in Europe (from Antwerp Filmmuseum to Wessex Film and Sound Archive), 18 in Latin America, and about 300 in the US (including 12 presidential collections). The listed archives house much more than film, so this site serves an encyclopedia of interests, from baseball to labor to transport to Will Rogers, and then some. Researchers can track down rare materials and check new journals.
