NEA Today: Published by the National Education Association, this resource focuses on the role of public education from preschool to postsecondary education. Rethinking Schools: Quarterly publication explores policy debates and best practices for teachers with an emphasis on urban education and racial equality. Association for Childhood Education International: This resource includes ACEI position papers and web resources for students, educators and parents of children from infancy to adolescence. Carol Hurst's Children's Literature: Compilation of books for kids, tools for use in curriculum and collections of books and activities about particular subjects, curriculum areas and themes. Child Care and Early Education Research Connections: A collection of free resources on early childhood education. Child Development Institute: A collection of articles on the various stages of child development in a printer-friendly format. Educator's Reference Desk (formerly AskERIC): Maintained by the Syracuse University Institute staff and librarian volunteers, this directory is styled like Yahoo! and provides access to the ERIC database, resource guides, and lesson plans. ERIC Clearinghouse on Elementary and Early Childhood Education: Provides information in the areas of child development, education of children from birth through early adolescence, and special topics and research priorities in early education research. Idea Box: Seasonal activities, projects and games; links to online stories, printable pages, and a site of the week. LINCS (National Institute for Literacy): Internet resources designed for adult educators and specialists in family literacy. National Association for the Education of Young Children: Table of contents for the National Institute for Early Childhood Professional Development (NAEYC) journal, Young Children, are available plus books/videos for practitioners; NAEYC annual conference reports; and advocacy policies for young children. National Head Start Association: Head Start is the most successful, longest-running, national school readiness program in the United States. It provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and their families. National Resource Center for Health & Safety in Child Care State Licensing and Regulation: A division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, this link provides licensure regulations for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Novelist: Needing a book for children about fear of the dark? How about a book about the first day of kindergarten? Novelist is a resource to encourage reading and explore a wide range of literature for children of all reading abilities. The Perpetual Preschool: Site is resource for early childhood educators divided into categories, such as math and manipulatives, dramatic play, curriculum ideas and teacher tips. PreKindergarten: This 2004 Government Printing Office report focuses on four states that expanded their preschool programs to serve more children. Three areas of focus include design and funding; implications of participation; and outcome data on participants. Special education grant programs designed to serve children ages 0-5: This 2002 Government Printing Office (GPO) publication provides an overview for federal aid for early childhood education & care programs.
