Search the library catalog using a specific topic, such as personal finance or college, or browse the following subject areas below.

Periodical Search:

Use the periodical search function on the Catalog home page to find periodical titles indexed in our databases.  For example, if you have a citation to an article and want to see if it is available full-text in our databases, search for the journal title, and the system will lead you to the correct database.

  • ABI/INFORM®: Available through ProQuest® and comprising nearly 1,400 North American journal sources, this database provides information on advertising, economics, human resources, finance, marketing, computers, plus 60,000 companies. Also, ABI indexes The Wall Street Journal® from 1984 to the present.

 

  • Academic Search Premier: Available through EBSCOhost®, this database indexes 4,450 scholarly /peer-reviewed journals in all academic disciplines back to 1975 and provides the corresponding full-text/full-image for articles . Updated daily.

  • Regional Business News  An EBSCOhost® database indexing full-text articles from 75 U.S. regional business journals, newspapers, and newswires.

NOTE: The date of incorporation can sometimes be difficult to locate. A print source that    contains information about companies, along with the date of incorporation is the International Directory of Company Histories (R 338.7 I61). This is a non-circulating multi-volume set found in the Sullivan University Library reference area.

 

          Business and Company Resource Center:  A comprehensive database of  company and            industry information, and business journals and newspapers.

          New York Times: Newspaper articles from New York Times, many include full text.

http://collegeky.com/ : This website provides numerous college resources for Kentucky. They include the Kentucky Department of Education, the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority, and the Kentucky Council on Post-Secondary Education.

 

US Department of Education : Central source of information about education.

FastWeb : Contains information about scholarships, loans and other financial aid.  Also contains tuition, housing, and fee information about specific colleges.  Note--to make full use of this site, you must register with an email address and password.  An option not to receive unsolicited emails from sponsored is offered.

FinAid Calculators : A program designed to assist in calculations of various costs and expenses involved in college planning.  Among those included are Savings Plan Designer, Expected Family Contribution, Loan Payment Calculator.

FSA – Federal Student Aid on the Web : Contains information about all federally sponsored student-aid programs.

 

Economics and Opportunity Cost

 

EconNews Online: Scarcity, Choice and Opportunity Costs : A collection of news articles about applications of opportunity cost analysis to various situations.
