Finding Books

Search the Sullivan University library catalog for specific topics, such as construction management, and corresponding Dewey Decimal call numbers, or browse the following subject areas in the Dewey Decimal call numbers indicated below:

Search the Louisville Free Public Library catalog (Sullivan students are eligible to apply for LFPL cards and may borrow materials from LFPL):  Try searching for "construction industry," "building trades," or "contractors."

Fast access to information on over 60,000 companies. Now indexes The Wall Street Journal.

Academic Search Premier: An EBSCOhost? database indexing 4,450 scholarly /peer-reviewed journals, and providing the corresponding full-text/full-image for articles in all academic disciplines back to 1975. Updated daily.

Accounting & Tax: Available through ProQuest? and recommended for business students and financial professionals, this database includes abstracts and full-text articles from nearly 300 accounting and tax publications, and additional tax-related topics compiled from thousands of business journals, from 1971-present.

Business Source Premier An EBSCOhost? database indexing 3,650+ scholarly/peer-reviewed business journals back to 1922 and providing the corresponding full-text/full-image for articles on all business subjects  including management, finance and accountingAlso includes country economic reports as well as comprehensive  profiles for the 10,000 largest companies:  click the COMPANY PROFILE tab on the toolbar at the top of the page.  Updated daily.

Career and Technical Education: Available through ProQuest?, this database may be used to research vocational and technical topics including technology, healthcare, building trades, auto mechanics, sales and retail, accounting, graphic design, photography, and nursing.

Hoover?s Online delivers comprehensive company, industry, and market intelligence. Our database covers 12 million companies, with in-depth coverage of 40,000 of the world's top business enterprises.  The site is updated daily to provide the most current business information.

Newspaper Source: An EBSCOhost? database providing full-text articles from 23 national and international newspapers, television and radio news transcripts, and 200 regional U.S. newspapers.  Updated daily.

Proquest?:  among the available Proquest? databases, ABI/INFORM? Research is a scholarly business periodicals database comprising nearly 1400 North American sources in advertising, economics, human resources, finance, marketing, computers and more. ABI also provides access to information on 60,000+ companies and includes an index to the full-text files of The Wall Street Journal? since 1984.

Regional Business News:  An EBSCOhost? database indexing full-text articles from 75 U.S. regional business journals, newspapers, and newswires.

Louisville Free Public Library Databases:  users need a Louisville Free Public Library card to access these databases

  • Business and Company Resource Center:  A comprehensive database of company and industry information, and business journals and newspapers.

  • New York Times: Newspaper articles from New York Times, many include full text.

 

Periodical Search:

Use the periodical search function on the Catalog home page to find periodical titles indexed in our databases.  For example, if you have a citation to an article and want to see if it is available full-text in our databases, search for the journal title, and the system will lead you to the correct database.

American Management Association: a nonprofit membership organization dedication to training and professional development of managers.  

American Subcontractors Association:  The association of professional construction contractors.

Associated Builders and Contractors: "ABC is a national trade association representing more than 23,000 merit shop contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers and related firms in 80 chapters across the United States."

@BRINT.com: Premiere site for information relating to e-business, technology, and knowledge management. Includes comprehensive resource links to news, articles, websites, directories, forums, and discussion groups.

Business Ethics: Web site contains links to business ethics articles, case studies, corporate codes of ethics, professional organizations and associations.

CIO Executive Research Center: Created by the publisher of CIO Magazine, this website provides one-stop shopping for information professionals. Provides links to articles, information resources, organizations, think tanks, employment resources and a variety of research centers that cover individual IS topics such as data warehousing, infrastructure, intranets, IS staffing, and knowledge management among others.

Eagle Eye: A commercial provider of federal procurement and grant business intelligence.  This link is directed to the state of Kentucky federal spending profile, yet other states may be selected as well.

ForecastCenter.com: Outgrowth of a proprietary consulting firm, this site offers forecasts by broad subject area featuring government reports, published articles and consulting presentations.  Registration required but free.

HRVillage.com: Comprehensive coverage of human resources topics, including sample job descriptions, employee handbooks, and employment policies. 

Knowledge Management Resource Center: This comprehensive website was created by the IKM Corp. and provides a comprehensive collection of knowledge management resources. Site visitors may search the site by keyword or review topics by department.
