Finding Conflict Resolution Journals
In your professional life, it is essential to identify the professional and scholarly journals in your field. Though numerous journals in different topics are recommended in our research guides, you can also find journals by using the Periodical Search feature. This feature is also invaluable for determining which databases index certain journals, a skill that makes finding articles faster and easier. Begin by going to the website http://libdb.sullivan.edu. This website is available both on and off-campus. The Periodical Search feature is near the bottom of the screen. In this case, we will search for publications by title.
In the drop-down box next to the phrase “Search for periodicals by title,” choose the option “Title contains all words.” This option will identify journals in which the search terms you will enter appear anywhere in the title. Next, enter either the word “conflict” or the word “dispute” in the search box. You can also use any search words that seem appropriate to you. Note that this feature only allows you to search for information about journals, not the articles within the journals. Click the Search button. A list of records will appear. The records include the title of the journal and the places, whether physical or electronic, where it can be located. They also include the range of dates for which the journal is available. A record that says: from 2001 to present in Sullivan Louisville Periodical Collection indicates that issues of the journal are available in paper format from 2001 to the most recent issue at the Sullivan-Louisville campus’s library. On the other hand, the record might say: from 2007 to present in PubMed Central which refers to the fact that articles dating from 2007 to the present are available in the PubMed Central database. If you are on-campus when you are using Periodical Search, you can click directly on the links and be directed to the database. If you are accessing Periodical Search from off-campus, the links will not work. You will need to access the database using the remote access feature, available here. Follow the directions to find the database containing the journal of your choice. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the library at (502) 456-6773.
