The African-American Mosaic: Includes the resource guide to the Library of Congress?s virtual holdings on African American history and culture. 

African American Archaeology, History and Cultures: Created by University of Illinois anthropologist/historical archaeologist Chris Fennell, this site provides links to online presentations about African American archaeology projects which are part of a broader portal, African Diaspora Archaeology Network. Links to resources about the African American past and excavations done in Africa uncovering glimpses into African and African American culture, slavery and abolition, and, unusually, African heritage in Britain.

African American Web Connection: Provides a categorical directory to resources related to African American life. 

African-American World: Information provided by PBS about African American history and culture. 

Africana Online: Articles about the history of Africans in America, slavery, the civil rights movement, African-American art and more. 

Afro-American Almanac: Features historical documents and events. 

American Slave Narratives:  An Online Anthology: Transcripts of 13 accounts by former slaves of the experiences on plantations, farms, and in cities.

Black History.com: Features articles about history and culture of African-Americans.

Black Studies:  City College Libraries of New York provides a platform for references on black studies. The main page lists 51 broad subject categories (including Brown v. Board of Education, Emancipation, The Great Migration, Postage Stamps, Tuskegee Airmen, and The Underground Railroad), each subdivided by specific topics.

Civil Rights in Mississippi Digital Archives: "Sponsored by the University of Southern Mississippi, the site provides online access to text and audiovisual primary resource materials documenting a turbulent, pivotal point in Mississippi's and America's history."

CivilWar@Smithsonian: Virtual archive of Civil War information.

From Slavery to Freedom - The African-American Pamphlet Collection: Nearly 400 pamphlets by African American authors and others who wrote about slavery, colonization, emancipation, reconstruction and related topics published from 1824 thought 1909. 

Infoplease Almanac:  Black History Month: Includes history, timelines, biographies relating to African American history. 

In Motion: The African-American Migration Experience: Developed by the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, this site chronicles 13 African American migrations from the middle passage of the 16th century to contemporary influxes of migrants from Africa and the Caribbean. This perspective places the forced migrations of the slave trade within the broader context of self-motivated movements of African Americans, spanning four centuries.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Papers Project at Stanford University: Contains information about the civil rights leader including his writings, speeches and sermons.

Minority Studies: Large collection of research links to Internet resources for the study of African American culture. 

National Underground Railroad Freedom Center: Contains a time line, biographies and other information on slavery, abolitionists and more recent civil rights issues. 

Our Shared History?African American Heritage: Includes information on historic sites, the underground railroad, noted African Americans.

Patchwork of African-American Life: A selected directory of Black History websites.

Race and Ethnicity: An online introduction to the sociology of race and ethnicity.

The Rise and Fall of Jim Crow: Contains historic documents, photos, narratives and interactive resources on Jim Crow America, covering the period between 1863 and 1954.

Voices of Civil Rights: "This collaborative effort of the American Association of Retired Persons, Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, and Library of Congress seeks to collect the personal stories of participants of modern civil rights movements from 1945 through 1975. The Web site's centerpiece is profiles of activists from the many reform organizations associated with the 1960s, including the African American Civil Rights Movement, the American Indian Movement, and the Chicano, gay rights, environmental, and women's movements."

Voices From the Days of Slavery: A website that features sound files of interviews with former slaves recorded between 1932 and 1975. The recordings came from the collections of the American Folklife Center's Archive of Folk Culture.

Who2Profiles - Black History: A directory of prominent figures in Black History.

World Wide Web Virtual Library- Indigenous Studies: "A comprehensive list of links to general indigenous resources such as Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) is followed by links listed by geographic region and then by indigenous nation.  The "Africa" section has links to sites about the Ogoni, !Kung, Mbutu, Maasai, Hadzabe, and many more Fourth World peoples. "
